‘We Will Keep Fighting’: Manager Defiant as Owls Hit -6 Points

by admin477351

Sheffield Wednesday manager Henrik Pedersen insists his team will “keep fighting” despite being handed a 12-point penalty for entering administration. The deduction plunges the Owls to -6 points, 15 adrift of safety in the Championship, but the Dane remains defiant.

Pedersen called the administration, filed by owner Dejphon Chansiri, a “sad situation” that could “still be a good day.” He stressed the need for a “fresh restart” after months of financial turmoil, including unpaid wages and a depleted squad. “I have a big belief we can survive,” he added.

The club’s collapse follows “years of financial mismanagement,” according to the Supporters Trust, who are “overjoyed” to see Chansiri leave. The club owes $approx$ pounds{}1 million in taxes, and the financial instability led to the departure of former manager Danny Röhl and several key players in the summer.

Begbies Traynor, the administrator, is now in charge and seeking a “swift sale.” They confirmed they will market the club and the stadium together. Staff, who met with the administrators, were described as “emotional” but “looking forward to the future.”

The Supporters Trust is now calling on fans to end their boycotts. After thousands stayed away from the midweek game, the trust says the “phase of renewal” must begin. “Now is the time to be Wednesday,” their statement concluded, urging fans to provide income by returning to Hillsborough.
