Thailand clinched the bronze medal in the women’s volleyball event at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026, defeating South Korea in a straight-set victory on Tuesday at Park Arena Komaki. The Thai team won with set scores of 25-20, 25-19, and 25-23, marking their fourth consecutive medal in this event.
In a match that saw Thailand’s dominance shine through, South Korea initially established a lead in the opening set. However, Thailand mounted an effective comeback with a combination of strategic attacks and strong serving to take the set 25-20.
The second set followed a similar pattern. Although South Korea briefly led at 11-9, Thailand’s offense became more aggressive, allowing them to secure the set 25-19. The third set was closely contested, with both teams locked at 12-12 at one point. Thailand eventually pushed ahead, reaching match point at 24-23, before a South Korean mistake handed them the victory and the bronze medal.
This latest achievement adds to Thailand’s impressive record in Asian Games women’s volleyball, having previously won bronze in 2014, silver in 2018, and another bronze in 2022. Furthermore, this victory also secured their qualification for the women’s volleyball tournament at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
