These talks, held at the Élysée Palace, concentrated on expanding cooperation across several key sectors, including trade, investment, cybersecurity, defense, and advanced technology. The leaders also engaged in dialogue concerning regional issues, particularly developments in Cambodia and Myanmar.
A significant outcome of the meeting was an agreement to boost collaboration in various industries such as alternative energy, aerospace, and aviation. Both countries expressed interest in advancing smart power grids and artificial intelligence infrastructure. Additionally, France reiterated its backing for finalizing the Thailand-European Union free trade agreement by the end of the year. This trade agreement, initially launched in 2013 and paused in 2014, was resumed in 2023, with Thai officials highlighting the potential economic benefits it could yield for both nations.
The discussions also covered defense and cybersecurity, with both countries vowing to enhance cooperation in these areas. Their efforts will focus on tackling cybercrime, online fraud, and broader transnational digital threats. In terms of regional concerns, Thailand assured its commitment to addressing border issues with Cambodia through peaceful negotiations and adherence to international law.
Looking ahead, both governments plan to implement the Joint Action Plan to Strengthen the Thai-French Partnership for 2026-2028, paving the way for a formal strategic partnership. This plan underscores their shared ambition to solidify and expand their bilateral relations.
During his time in France, Anutin also engaged with executives from prominent French companies such as Airbus, Imerys, EssilorLuxottica, IN Groupe, and Thales Group to promote investment in Thailand’s burgeoning high-tech sectors. French business leaders expressed confidence in the Thai investment climate, with Airbus announcing intentions to broaden its aviation and engineering activities within the country.
