Vietnam and Côte d’Ivoire are set on enhancing their bilateral cooperation, focusing on expanding partnerships in trade, investment, and other crucial sectors. This commitment marks a significant step forward in the relationship between the two countries.
Tô Lâm, a prominent Vietnamese leader, underscored the strengthening ties, highlighting that by 2025, Côte d’Ivoire had emerged as Vietnam’s largest trading partner in Africa. He emphasized the importance of broadening their trade relations beyond the conventional exchange of goods like cashew nuts and rice, suggesting a more diversified trade portfolio.
The Vietnamese government is also eager to boost investment cooperation in a variety of fields. These include agriculture, telecommunications, oil and gas, digital transformation, cybersecurity, infrastructure, mineral processing, and the burgeoning electric vehicle sector. Such collaboration is expected to foster mutual economic growth and innovation.
Côte d’Ivoire is equally enthusiastic about this partnership, expressing a keen interest in attracting Vietnamese businesses. The West African nation sees this as an opportunity to expand cooperation across the region. Discussions also touched on the importance of strengthening parliamentary exchanges, enhancing education, developing the workforce, and building stronger people-to-people ties.
