Việt Nam and Singapore are poised to enhance their political trust and broaden strategic coordination, particularly in the realms of technology, innovation, and sustainable development. This development comes as Vietnamese leader Tô Lâm prepares for a state visit to Singapore from May 29 to 31. Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyễn Mạnh Cường emphasized that the bilateral relationship has moved beyond traditional economic ties, increasingly focusing on future-oriented sectors that foster long-term growth and regional integration within ASEAN.

The partnership between the two countries was elevated to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2025, highlighting the increasing political trust and shared strategic interests. Singapore is one of Việt Nam’s most significant economic partners, positioned as the second-largest foreign investor with numerous active projects across diverse sectors such as manufacturing, infrastructure, logistics, finance, real estate, and high technology. A notable emblem of this cooperation is the Việt Nam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) network, which is evolving towards greener and smarter industrial models in alignment with sustainable development goals.

Both nations are intensifying collaboration in cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence, semiconductor technology, big data, clean energy, digital transformation, and green transition initiatives. Efforts are being made to interconnect innovation ecosystems, technology enterprises, and skilled talent networks in both countries. During Tô Lâm’s visit, economic cooperation is expected to remain a focal point, alongside deeper collaboration in finance, trade, supply chains, and technology development.

Initiatives like “Tech Connect” are anticipated to fortify links between governments, universities, research institutes, and private companies in areas such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and green technology. The visit is also expected to support the development of the next generation of sustainable and high-tech VSIP projects across Việt Nam.

Tô Lâm is also scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, a prominent security forum in the region. Vietnamese officials view the invitation as acknowledgment of Việt Nam’s expanding international role and its dedication to peace, cooperation, and strategic autonomy.
