In a meeting held in Athens with representatives from Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, and Indonesia, Plevris highlighted the significance of establishing early bilateral labor agreements. Such agreements, he noted, would be crucial in safeguarding the rights of both workers and employers, while also aiding Greece’s efforts to curb irregular migration.
Plevris underscored the growing importance of migration management, particularly in light of the European Union’s new Pact on Migration and Asylum. Vietnamese Ambassador Phạm Thị Thu Hương expressed optimism regarding the progress made in labor cooperation discussions with the Greek minister. She conveyed hope that both countries would soon finalize a bilateral labor agreement, which is expected to expand employment opportunities for Vietnamese workers and strengthen bilateral ties.
