Vietnam’s National Assembly President, Trần Thanh Mẫn, has embarked on a mission to bolster economic ties with South Korean conglomerates during his visit to Seoul. In meetings with top executives from Samsung Electronics, SK Group, LG Innotek, and Lotte Group, Mẫn emphasized the importance of expanding investments in high-tech industries, artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, energy, and sustainable development. These discussions reflect Vietnam’s strategic efforts to attract high-quality foreign investments and enhance economic cooperation with South Korea.

During talks with Samsung Electronics CEO, Roh Tae-moon, Mẫn praised the company’s significant role in Vietnam’s economic landscape through investments, job creation, and support for local businesses. He urged Samsung to further its high-tech investments, aligning with Vietnam’s development priorities such as digital transformation and technological innovation. Roh affirmed Samsung’s commitment to these priorities, highlighting the company’s initiatives in smart factory automation and skills development for Vietnamese enterprises.

In a meeting with SK Group Chairman, Chey Tae-won, Mẫn encouraged the conglomerate to deepen its investments in semiconductors, AI, renewable energy, and emission-reduction technologies. He expressed optimism about SK’s proposal to establish a large-scale AI center in Vietnam and its interest in exploring investments in energy infrastructure and AI data centers, signaling a robust future partnership.

LG Innotek CEO, Moon Hyuk-soo, was also part of Mẫn’s itinerary. With LG Group having already invested over $10 billion in Vietnam, Mẫn advocated for even greater collaboration with Vietnamese suppliers and emphasized the importance of strengthening technology and skills development. LG reaffirmed its commitment by acknowledging Vietnam’s critical role in its global production network.

Mẫn concluded his series of high-level meetings with Lotte Group Chairman, Shin Dong-bin, advocating for expanded investments in smart urban development, infrastructure, tourism, and services. He urged Lotte to accelerate major projects with a focus on sustainability, green development, and adherence to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards. These engagements highlight Vietnam’s proactive approach in securing pivotal international partnerships, particularly in advanced technology and digital industries.
