During recent discussions in Hanoi, Vietnam and France have emphasized their dedication to enhancing their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The two nations aim to bolster collaboration across various sectors including diplomacy, trade, defense, energy, technology, and infrastructure. This renewed commitment was evident as both parties reviewed the progress of their bilateral relations and agreed to expedite the execution of their partnership action plan.
Vietnam is particularly keen on deepening cooperation in areas such as defense, cybersecurity, nuclear energy, science and technology, critical minerals, and significant infrastructure projects. Additionally, Vietnam has urged France to quicken the ratification process for the EU–Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA). It also seeks France’s continued assistance in lifting the European Union’s “yellow card” warning on Vietnamese seafood exports, a move seen as crucial for the country’s export sector.
France, on its part, acknowledged Vietnam as a pivotal strategic partner within the Asia-Pacific region. The European nation expressed a strong interest in broadening cooperation in several fields, including nuclear energy, rare earth extraction, satellite technology, and transportation infrastructure. Moreover, France is looking to enhance partnerships in healthcare and cultural exchanges, areas that promise mutual benefit and growth.
Both countries are committed to intensifying their coordination on regional and global issues, underlining the importance of multilateralism and dialogue. They have pledged to promote sustainable development as part of their broader cooperation agenda. This collaborative effort is seen as a significant step forward in addressing shared challenges and capitalizing on joint opportunities on the international stage.
