On August 23, Patrick Achi, the President of the National Assembly of Côte d’Ivoire, commenced a four-day official visit to Hà Nội, following an invitation from Vietnamese National Assembly President Trần Thanh Mẫn. This visit, which will continue until August 26, coincides with the celebration of 50 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Côte d’Ivoire, an anniversary that will be officially marked in October 2025.
Throughout his stay, Achi is scheduled to engage with senior Vietnamese officials, including Vietnamese Party General Secretary and President Tô Lâm. He will also conduct discussions with National Assembly President Trần Thanh Mẫn. These talks are anticipated to center on enhancing parliamentary cooperation and boosting economic and trade interactions between the two nations.
The visit underscores a mutual interest in deepening bilateral relations, with a particular focus on legislative collaboration. Vietnamese representatives have highlighted this initiative as a significant step towards expanding ties and sharing legislative expertise. This occasion marks the second time a head of Côte d’Ivoire’s legislature has visited Vietnam in the past three years, signaling a strengthening partnership.
Such visits are seen as pivotal in fostering closer ties between the respective countries’ legislative bodies, which could lead to increased economic and trade activities. Both nations are looking to capitalize on this opportunity to solidify their partnership and explore new areas of collaboration, reflecting a shared commitment to a prosperous future.
